OHMYGOSSIP — Alan Halsall says fatherhood is “the best thing” that’s ever happened to him.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who shares seven-year-old Sienna with his ex-wife and former ‘Corrie’ co-star Lucy-Jo Hudson – has always put his daughter before his work, because she is the biggest “joy” in his life.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Being a dad changes everything and I absolutely love it. It’s the best thing that’s ever happened in my life. Sienna is just an absolute joy and she comes first and foremost every time.”
The 38-year-old star was only 13 when he began acting and landed a role in the ITV soap as Tyrone Dobbs just three years later.
However, he has tried to stir Sienna away from a life in the spotlight, despite her ambitions to follow in her parents’ footsteps.
Alan said: “You try to steer them away from the industry that you know so well, but she is a little actress. She loves to sing and dance and perform but she’s also obsessed with animals and insects.
“I say, ‘Oh, you could be a vet,’ and she goes, ‘Yeah, but I’d like to be an actress.’ Whatever she wants to do she’ll have my full support, just like my parents supported me.”
What’s more, Alan – who is dating his former ‘Corrie’ co-star Tisha Merry – has a hard time staying modest about his fame as Sienna likes to rave about her famous father.
He explained: “She likes to shout it out dead loud when I’m on the front cover of a magazine in the Co-op. We’ll be walking round and she’ll go, ‘Look Daddy, there you are!’ And I’ll be like, ‘Keep it down darling, keep it down!’ She doesn’t find it weird, she’s grown up with it, so she’s used to it.
“She sees me on telly, she sees her mum on telly and she’s seen Tisha on telly. She’s fine with it and it doesn’t seem to bother her a great deal, which is great. It’s just normal to her.”
