OHMYGOSSIP — Romesh Ranganathan has replaced James Corden as the host of ‘A League of Their Own’.
The 43-year-old comedian will be in the hot seat for the forthcoming 16th series of the Sky One show, as James is unable to appear this season due to existing work commitments – and Romesh is “truly honoured” to have been given the main gig after being a panellist since 2018.
He said: “I’m over the moon to be taking over the hosting duties and looking forward to being back in the studio with Jamie, Freddie, our guests and the live audience.
“I’m truly honoured to be the new host of such a successful show.
“I know Jamie and Freddie are delighted because they often talk about what a hero I am to both of them.”
Longstanding team captains Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp will also return for the new, eight-part series.
Show guests will include pro footballer Jamie Vardy, Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis, and retired footballer-turned-pundit Micah Richards.
Filming for the new series starts on July 5th, with a socially distanced studio audience, ahead of an August release.
Romesh looks set to be busy in the coming months as it was confirmed this week he will also turn his skills to solving crime in a three-part BBC Two show, ‘The Misinvestigations Of Romesh Ranganathan’.
The programme will see the ‘King Gary’ star aim to get to the bottom of some of the most mysterious, high-profile deaths that shocked a generation, such as Jimi Hendrix and Tupac Shakur.
He said: “We wanted a spin-off for Misadventures, and after we discussed Misinterpretations, Miscalculations and Misunderstandings we finally settled on Misinvestigations.
“It’s been really interesting to look into these high-profile deaths and I am very excited for people to see the show, unless of course people don’t like it in which case I will release a statement explaining how I never really believed in the project.”
