OHMYGOSSIP — Bradley Walsh’s son Barney has joined the cast of ‘The Larkins’.
The ‘Chase’ host is already attached to the new TV adaptation of H.E. Bates’ novel ‘The Darling Buds of May’ as patriarch Pop Larkin, and now his son Barney has been confirmed for the project as PC Harness.
Other new names confirmed for the series include former ‘Doctor Who’ star Peter Davison, who will take on the role of the Vicar, and Amelia Bullmore will star as Miss Edith Pilchester.
As well as Bradley, Joanna Scanlan (Ma Larkin), Sabrina Bartlett (Mariette Larkin) and Tok Stephen (Charley Charlton) have already been announced for the six-part show.
Further new cast additions are Robert Bathurst as Johnny Delamere, Kriss Dosanjh will play Brigadier, and Seeta Indrani is to portray Miss Chand, as well as Stephen Hagan (Tom Fisher), Francesca Waterworth (Libby Fothergill), Tony Gardner (Alec Norman) and Selina Griffiths (Norma Norman).
What’s more, the Larkin family is completed by Lydia Page (Primrose Larkin), Liam Middleton (Montgomery Larkin), Lola Shepelev (Victoria Larkin), Davina Coleman (Zinnia Larkin) and Rosie Coleman (Petunia Larkin).
‘The Darling Buds of May’ was last adapted 30 years ago on TV, and it became one of ITV’s all-time highest-rated TV comedy dramas.
‘The Larkins’ will tell the story of the titular working class family, who are led by wheeler-dealer Pop and his wife Ma.
The father-son duo worked together on three series of their ITV travel show, ‘Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad, and previously appeared together in the 2013 series of thriller ‘Law & Order: UK’.
‘The Larkins’ has been written by Simon Nye – best known for the likes of ‘The Durrells’ and ‘Men Behaving Badly’ – with one episode penned by Abigail Wilson.
Bradley previously said: “I’m thrilled to be asked to be part of this much loved and iconic series of stories.
“The warmth and affection that H. E Bates has generated through his books is so uplifting and I cannot wait to be part of the Larkin family. It’ll be a hoot!”
