OHMYGOSSIP — Samia Longchambon has obtained a diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actress – who plays Maria Connor in the ITV soap – has been open about her anxiety battles in the past, and she found it “really good” to learn about CBT for the last eight months, resulting in her achieving a distinction.
She wrote on Instagram: “I’m a little bit proud of myself and wanted to share.. After 8 months of studying I’ve got my diploma in CBT! (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
“I’ve tried lots of different ways of dealing with my #anxiety over the years so it’s been really good to learn from the other side of how this kind of therapy works! (sic)”
The 38-year-old star is now hoping she will be able to help others, as well as herself.
She added: “Hopefully now I’ll be able to help myself and others in the future.. #mentalhealthmatters #cbt #therapy #homestudy (sic)”
In May 2018, Samia opened up about suffering from anxiety since she was 11 years old.
She wrote on Instagram: “As it’s #mentalhealthawarenessweek I thought I’d post this. I’ve suffered with anxiety since I was 11 (and possibly before that, but that was the first time I saw my doctor about my inability to ‘get a deep breath’). It is something that comes and goes with me, but when it’s there it’s awful and all consuming. I love that the stigma of mental health is finally being broken and people are opening up, talking and realising that you’re not alone.. in fact it is pretty common. I’m not gonna patronise but just wanted to send love out to all people having a daily struggle… #thistooshallpass #gethelp #talk #breathe (sic)”
