OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Summer Holiday’ singer Sir Cliff Richard – whose property in Berkshire, South East England was searched by police last week in relation to an alleged historical sex offence – voluntarily met with police and reaffirmed his strong denial of the accusation.
The ‘Summer Holiday’ singer – who was not arrested or charged – was “voluntarily” interviewed by police yesterday (23.08.14) as part of the investigation into an alleged historic sex crime involving a boy, and while he “will continue to co-operate fully”, he has reaffirmed his strong denial of the accusation.
His spokesman said: “Sir Cliff voluntarily met with members of south Yorkshire Police. He was not arrested or charged.
“He co-operated fully with officers and answered the questions put to him.
“Other than restating that this allegation is completely false and that he will continue to co-operate fully with the police, it would not be appropriate for Sir Cliff to say anything further.”
The 60s star – whose property in Berkshire, South East England was searched by police last week in relation to an alleged historical sex offence – has strongly denied claims he sexually assaulted a young boy at an event in 1985, and he and his team will reportedly demand an explanation as to why the investigation has dragged on “for so long”.
A source said: “Sir Cliff and his team want explanations as to why the investigation has gone on for so long and why they burst into his home without warning.”
