OHMYGOSSIP — Dame Maureen Lipman wants to appear on ‘Celebrity Pointless’ as her ‘Coronation Street’ character.
The 75-year-old actress plays battleaxe Evelyn Plummer in the ITV soap and is due to return to ‘Gogglebox’ on Friday (04.06.21), and she believes there should be a star-studded version of the BBC’s ‘Pointless’ which could feature actors answering quiz questions as their characters, such as Sir David Jason as his legendary ‘Only Fools and Horses’ alter-ego Del Boy.
Maureen would also love to appear on ‘Gogglebox’ as her cobbles character.
When it was suggested Evelyn would be “great” on the Channel 4 show, she said: “That is such a great idea.
“I was thinking it would be good to having something like ‘Celebrity Pointless’ and be great to have people answering questions in character, like Del Boy.”
Maureen – whose partner Guido Castro died in January – admitted being on ‘Corrie’ is “good for her” at the moment.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, she added: “It’s good for me at this stage.
“She’s a good character. I don’t know if I’m getting more like her, or she’s getting more like me.”
While Maureen is up for a ‘Celebrity Pointless’ stint as Evelyn, it doesn’t look like she will appear on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ anytime soon – as she previously joked she might punch judge Craig Revel Horwood if he criticised her on the show.
She said: “I know Craig Revel Horwood, he’s a dear man, but if he told me I hadn’t got the right turn out, or that I had two left feet, I would probably punch him!”
