OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie the Eagle felt “very weak and disorientated” in his ‘Masked Dancer’ Rubber Chicken costume.
The British ski jumper – whose real name is Michael Edwards – admitted he couldn’t work out what was left and right once he put the outfit on for the ITV show, and he also struggled to breathe in the suit.
Eddie – who was unmasked on last night’s (01.06.21) show – said: “I learnt it perfectly in the dance studio, but when you get the chicken outfit on it is a totally different story.
“You couldn’t see, it was heavy, you couldn’t move.
“Because you couldn’t breathe very well I was getting very weak and getting very disorientated and losing my balance.
“I couldn’t even work out what was left and right after a few minutes in the suit. It was really weird.”
Eddie took his Rubber Chicken disguise so seriously he researched how chickens walk and eat so he could replicate the movements when he was in front of the judging panel, Oti Mabuse, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.
He said: “When I was in the studio on the stage they said, ‘Think like a chicken, do what chickens do.’
“I actually researched on Google how chickens walk and how they eat, so when I was against the panel I was trying to ignore them and thinking, ‘What would a chicken do now?’ It was great fun.”
Eddie has now set his sights on taking part in The Masked Dancer’s ITV sister show ‘The Masked Singer’.
Speaking on ‘This Morning’, he added: “I have sung. I had a number two hit in Finland, I had a number 50 hit in the UK.
“So, who knows? I might do that next.”
