Queen Elizabeth advertises for Collections Project Manager to oversee Buckingham Palace renovation

OHMYGOSSIP — Queen Elizabeth is seeking a live-in Collections Project Manager as Buckingham Palace gears up for months of major building work.
The queen’s main residence is set for a summer of renovation, with the vast majority of palace’s electrics, plumbing and heating said not to have been updated since the 1950s. And one of the roles which needs filling is a project manager to ensure the palaces expensive art and artefacts remain in tact while the works take place.
The official Royal UK website offers a detailed job description of the role which reads: “Joining a team of specialists you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the significant collections of art within Buckingham Palace are protected and cared for alongside ongoing reservicing works.
“You’ll oversee various complex projects, from the safe removal of works of art and protection of items in-situ in areas where Reservicing Programme works are taking place, to subsequently managing their safe return and display after works have finished.”
Another role advertised is for that of a painter and decorator for tasks ranging from “minor repairs” to entire “room renovations” while working in “uniquely historic environments”.
The description of the job, which although primarily based at Buckingham Palace, also involves travelling to and carrying out work on other royal residences, reads: “You’ll oversee various complex projects, from the safe removal of works of art and protection of items in-situ in areas where Reservicing Programme works are taking place, to subsequently managing their safe return and display after works have finished.”
“Working in such uniquely historic environments means you’ll have the opportunity to expand your existing skills. You’ll regularly handle specialist wall coverings, sign-writing and use specialist paint finishes, such as marbling and gilding.
“Playing an essential part within the Property team, you’ll also help solve day-to-day maintenance issues that arise, and assist with preparation work for State, ceremonial or official functions.
In all that you do, you’ll aim for the highest standards. After all, the results of your hard work will be seen by thousands.”
