OHMYGOSSIP — Eddie The Eagle has been unmasked on ‘The Masked Dancer’.
The legendary ski-jumper – whose real name is Michael Edwards – was revealed to be Rubber Chicken on the ITV guessing show, much to the shock of the judges, Oti Mabuse, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan, after losing out in the dance-off to Frog.
Asked about his time on the show, Eddie told host Joel Dommett: “It’s been the most amazing time. I’ve loved getting dressed up and I could just play and have so much fun.”
The 57-year-old sportsman was unveiled as Rubber Chicken during a tense show, which saw Car Wash, Beagle and Squirrel head straight through to the next round.
For the dance off, Rubber Chicken chose to perform a routine to ABBA’s ‘Take A Chance On Me’ whilst Frog – who remains with their mask on, for now – danced to ‘Hey Ya!’ by Outkast.
After being unmasked, Eddie returned to the stage to perform a dance to Mambo No. 5, much to the delight of the judges and the show’s audience.
No one had guessed it was Eddie, with the judges settling on possible options including entertainer and presenter Bradley Walsh, actor Daniel Day Lewis and comedians Bill Bailey and Harry Hill.
It comes after Dita Von Teese was unmasked as Beetroot on the show on Monday (31.05.21).
When asked if she had any formal dance training, she said: “Yeah, I always say I was a failed ballerina. I wanted to be a ballerina more than anything in the world, but my ballet teachers were like, ‘Oh your arms and legs are great!’ but I can’t follow choreography.”
Louise Redknapp and Jordan Banjo have also been unmasked during this series.
‘The Masked Dancer’ returns on Thursday June 3.
