OHMYGOSSIP — Charlie Brooks is recovering from the effects of the coronavirus jab after it left her “shivering under the duvet”.
The ‘EastEnders’ actress – who played Janine Butcher in the BBC One soap on and off from 1999 to 2014 – admitted the vaccine “knocked [her] sideways” but she has come through it.
She said: “I’m just recovering from the effects of the COVID jab.
“It just knocked me sideways. Under the duvet shivering.
“But thankfully I’m through it now.”
Charlie is rumoured to be returning to Walford as Janine, and while she hasn’t confirmed an Albert Square comeback, the 40-year-old star admitted she is in a fortunate position where she “might be able to” explore what the murderous daughter of Frank Butcher is up to “one day”.
Quizzed on the rumours, she told Metro newspaper: “There are, and I couldn’t possibly say anything about that.
“All I can say is I always wonder what she’s been up to and I’m in a really lucky position where one day that might be able to be explored.
“I was blessed with Janine.
“There’s never a dull moment – she’s fun, dark, misunderstood and layered, which is always very interesting. Who knows?”
In April, it was reported Janine – who was last seen in St Pancras as she boarded a train to go to Paris, where she joined daughter Scarlett and sister Diane – is set to return to Albert Square as part of a huge plot later this year.
A source said: “Bosses have a huge story planned for Charlie’s return.
“They are keeping tight-lipped about whether Janine will come back as a reformed character after all the chaos she has caused in the past.
“But she certainly has a lot of history in Albert Square so whether she will be welcomed back with open arms or not remains to be seen.
“One thing the viewers can be sure about is that it is bound to be explosive. Wherever Janine goes, drama is never far behind.”
