OHMYGOSSIP — Katie McGlynn has joined the cast of ‘Hollyoaks’.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star has swapped soaps, after landing the role of a woman named Becky in the Channel 4 serial drama.
In a statement, she said: “When I first read the script, I knew instantly that this storyline was an important one, and something that I could really sink my teeth into.
“I’m so excited for everyone to meet Becky and am thrilled to be working alongside the amazing cast and crew of ‘Hollyoaks’.
“The whole team couldn’t have been any more welcoming so far and I’m hopeful the story will have an impact on the viewers as it covers some extremely current and important issues.
“I’m super humbled to continue doing the work I really love and hope everyone enjoys watching it all unfold on screen as much as I’ve enjoyed filming it so far.”
Becky is described as a new mum who will grow close to Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher), as they swap stories about motherhood.
However, Diane might not want to get too close to the newcomer, as Becky isn’t quite all she seems, and is said to have a darker motive for being friendly with Diane.
Katie’s first appearance as Becky will air on July 5 on E4, and the following day on Channel 4.
The former cobbles actress – who has reunited with ‘Hollyoaks’ producer, Lucy Allan, after they previously teamed up on ‘Waterloo Road’ – previously appeared as Sinead Tinker in ITV soap ‘Coronation Street’.
The 27-year-old actress joined the soap in 2013, but waved goodbye in 2019 when Sinead died in harrowing scenes after losing her battle with cervical cancer.
