OHMYGOSSIP — Shobna Gulati tells fans she is “an astronaut” when they ask if she has worked since leaving ‘Coronation Street’.
The 54-year-old actress portrayed Sunita Alahan in the ITV soap from 2001 to 2013, and despite appearing in numerous TV shows and theatre productions since departing the cobbles, she is “constantly asked” what she has done post-Weatherfield, so has now resorted to telling people she works in space.
Shobna tweeted: “I’m constantly asked – maybe if I go out anywhere … if I work since leaving coronation street which is now over a decade ago . I mean ? I’ve given up giving my employment history to actors and strangers . I just roll my eyes . “ what do you do now,? Well, I’m an astronaut (sic)”
The former cobbles star is a big fan of football team Manchester United, but she was forced to block a racist “fool” on social media this week, after the club suffered defeat in the Europa League Final.
She tweeted: “I’ve blocked an fool United fan who things that it’s ok to be a racist when your team loses , which is disgusting (sic)”
Earlier this month, Shobna admitted she is still suffering the lingering effects of COVID-19.
She wrote: “It’s awful I had it in March last year and still working on getting through. (sic)”
The actress previously confessed to experiencing breathing difficulties.
She said: “When I had coronavirus and couldn’t smell or taste it was depressing.
“I live in a little community who rallied round me. I was really hot; a temperature beyond menopause. I couldn’t take a deep breath for three months. I was exhausted. I had to crawl upstairs on all fours.”
