OHMYGOSSIP — Michael Starke is set to join ‘Hollyoaks’.
The former ‘Brookside’ actor – who played Thomas ‘Sinbad’ Sweeney for 16 years – is set to play a taxi driver in two episodes of the Channel 4 soap, which are set to air next week.
A source told The Sun newspaper about the return, and said his character “witnesses some amusing conversations”.
His scenes will air on Wednesday (02.06.21) and Thursday on E4, and on Thursday and Friday for Channel 4 viewers.
The 63-year-old star left ‘Brookfield’ in 2000, and seven years later he appeared in ‘Coronation Street’ as kebab shop owner Jerry Morton.
However, the following year he left the cobbles as a new producer wanted to take things in another direction.
Elsewhere, he’s appeared in ‘Benidorm’, ‘Casualty’ and ‘The Virtues’, and also played Kenneth Hopkirk in ‘The Royal’.
The report follows other big casting news for ‘Hollyoaks’, with Sam Tutty coming in as criminal mastermind – and IT whizkid – Timmy Simmons.
Sam said: “Working at ‘Hollyoaks’ is an absolute delight. Everyone has been so welcoming and have been very supportive whenever I have had any questions.
“This mainly goes out to the wonderful Robert Beck who plays Fergus, Timmy’s terrifying overseer.
“I feel so privileged to play a character like Timmy, he is clearly terrified of those he works for. His poisoned moral compass has led him down a treacherous path and I’m very excited to see what’s at the end.”
Sam is best known for his role as Evan Hansen in the West End production of ‘Dear Evan Hansen’, for which he won the Olivier award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2020.
Meanwhile, a new trailer for the soap also revealed Lucy-Jo Hudson will reprise her role as Donna-Marie Quinn, having last appeared in the village in January 2020.
