OHMYGOSSIP — Jill Halfpenny has been cast in Channel 5’s upcoming thriller ‘The Holiday’.
The former ‘EastEnders’ actress will take the lead in the upcoming four-part adaptation of T.M. Logan’s 2019 novel of the same name, which follows a woman whose dream family holiday “turns into a nightmare”.
Jill said: “T.M. Logan’s novel, ‘The Holiday’, was such a joy to bring to life and filming with such a talented cast was just fantastic!
“Portraying Kate’s dream holiday turn into a nightmare was great fun and hopefully the fans of the book, and those who have yet to discover it, will enjoy the rollercoaster journey we take you on with this gripping thriller.”
Her character finds out her husband is having an affair with one of her four best friends, who are on holiday with her.
However, there is an even darker twist as one of the women in the Mediterranean villa might be willing to kill to keep their secret hidden.
As well as Jill, the stellar cast will also see ‘Killing Eve’ star Owen McDonnell as her on-screen husband Sean, Red Rock’s Aidan McCann as their son Daniel, and ‘Artemis Fowl’ actress Lara McDonnell as their daughter Lucy.
‘Midsommar’ star Liv Mjones will play Jenny, while ‘The Trial of Christine Keeler’ star Roger Hollis takes on the role of her husband Alistair.
The show will also feature the likes of Shaun O’Callaghan Wade (Jake), Siobhan Hewlett (Rowan), Andrew Macklin (Russ), Molly McCann (Odette) and Cat Simmons (Izzy).
‘Silent Witness’ writer Michael Crompton has adapted the novel for TV, with the series currently in production and set to air later this year on C5.
Sebastian Cardwell – SVP, deputy director of programmes at Channel 5 – previously said: “With a compelling storyline drawn from a real page-turner of a book, and a sun-kissed Mediterranean backdrop, ‘The Holiday’ should make thrilling television.”
