OHMYGOSSIP — Dawn French has slammed “scoundrels” who have been using her face to advertise “dangerous” diet pills.
The ‘Vicar of Dibley’ star has been left “infuriated” after she was alerted to her image being used in social media adverts to offload ketone tablets, which cost between £20 and £30.
She told The Sun newspaper: “I think this might be the fifth time I’ve had to shut down these s***** scoundrels – using my name illegally to sell their crappy pills. It infuriates me. It’s a total rip-off.
“What a stinky way to exploit trusting folk who might well already be in a pickle with their self-esteem.
“I can’t stand that I am associated in any way – and none of us know what actually is in these pills.
“So much damage can be done. It’s truly dangerous.”
Dawn shed seven-and-a-half stone in 2014, but last year she described herself as an “entire barrel” after putting weight back on over the first coronavirus pandemic lockdown.
She said: “I’ve gone back to being an entire barrel but do you know what, I’m going to be 63 this year, I don’t give a f***, I really don’t, so long as I can walk.
“I’m not going to be stingy to myself anymore. I never did dislike anything about my body, even when I was very, very fat. I refuse to be forced to dislike myself.”
The 63-year-old star – who has written several books – also admitted she ate curry for breakfast during lockdown.
She said: “In lockdown, I used to have curry for breakfast and it would go on too long.
“I am in my office at 9.30am and I write until lunch. I try to put my phone off when I am writing and I try to keep going until 5pm. I have a Protestant work ethic that comes from my parents.”
