OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Line of Duty’, ‘It’s A Sin and ‘Bridgerton’ have made the longlist for the National Television Awards.
The awards show will return to London’s O2 arena on September 9, with Joel Dommett set to host for the first time, taking over the reins from David Walliams.
This year, more streamed shows have been nominated than ever before, with Netflix hit ‘Bridgerton’ and ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ making the Best New Drama list, alongside Disney+’s ‘The Mandalorian’ and ‘WandaVision’.
The Drama Performance category sees ‘Line of Duty’ stars Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure in contention for the prize, alongside Brenda Blethyn for ‘Vera’, Helen George for ‘Call the Midwife’, Olly Alexander for ‘It’s a Sin’, and Gillian Anderson for her transformation into Margaret Thatcher for Netflix’s ‘The Crown’.
Cop drama ‘Line of Duty’ – which topped 15 million viewers – is also in contention for the Returning Drama prize along with ‘Call the Midwife’, ‘Unforgotten’ and ‘Vera’.
The NTAs have also announced a brand new category, Authored Documentary, which sees Kate Garraway’s moving feature, ‘Kate Garraway: Finding Derek’ – which documented the presenter’s husband’s 12 months in intensive care battling coronavirus and the after-effects – nominated alongside the likes of Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock’s ‘Leigh-Anne: Race, Pop & Power’, Marcus Rashford: Feeding Britain’s Children’, ‘Katie Price: Harvey and Me’, ‘Sheridan Smith: Becoming Mum’, and ‘Zara McDermott: Revenge Porn’.
New Drama, meanwhile, sees Michaela Coel’s ‘I May Destroy You’, ‘It’s a Sin’and ‘Normal People’ receive nods.
Elswhere,’The Masked Singer’ has been nominated for its first NTA, as the bonkers singing competition faces a battle with ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get me Out of Here!’, RuPaul’s Drag Race’ and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for the Talent Show award.
The revival of ‘Spitting Image’, which was off screens for 24 years, is nominated in the Comedy category.
And Soaps ‘Emmerdale’, ‘Coronation Street’, ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ are up for Best Serial Drama.

The NTA shortlist will be revealed in August when the final round of voting begins. Winners will be announced at the ceremony on ITV.
