OHMYGOSSIP — Maneskin’s Damiano David feels “really offended” by allegations of drug taking during the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday (22.05.21).
The music star has rubbished suggestions he was snorting cocaine during the ceremony in Rotterdam and has instead insisted he was inspecting broken glass on the table.
Damiano – who has offered to take a drug test to prove his innocence – explained: “When I was cheering, I saw the glass broken and I was like, ‘My God what happened?'”
The rock star is devastated that the controversy has managed to overshadow the band’s success in the Netherlands.
He told ‘BBC Breakfast’: “I feel really offended, I think that these kind of things are outrageous. We’re young guys with huge passion for the music and this is actually overshadowing our win.
“We will get drug tested to prove it’s all speculation.”
Fellow band member Victoria De Angelis insisted the group are determined to send a positive message to their fans.
Victoria said: “We’re trying to spread our music and a positive message and we’ve never had use of drugs. We really don’t want to spread this kind of message.”
Prior to their BBC interview, the band released a statement denying the accusations of drug taking.
They said on Instagram: “We are really shocked about what some people are saying about Damiano doing drugs. We really are AGAINST drugs and we never used cocaine. We are ready to get tested, ‘cause we have nothing to hide.
“We are here to play our music and we are so happy about our Eurovision win and we wanna thank everyone for supporting us. Rock n roll never dies. We love you. (sic)”
