OHMYGOSSIP — Ryan Thomas is feeling “overwhelmed” as he prepares to complete a mammoth 262-mile charity challenge.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star has raised nearly £120,000 after setting himself the task of walking 10 marathons in 10 days to raise money for charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), and he is due to complete the trek in Manchester later today (19.05.21).
He said: “It’s been overwhelming.
“To have the support along the way from people at such an important time just promoting mental health has been an incredible feeling.
“I’m so proud of myself and everyone who has come on the journey with me.
“It’s been great to be part of the movement.
“We’ve raised nearly £120,000, I set the bar at £25,000. I can’t believe it. I really can’t.
“I thank everyone for making that donation, it really does mean a lot to the charity CALM.”
The 36-year-old star – who played Jason Grimshaw in the ITV soap – has 20 miles to go before he crosses the finish line at Manchester Cathedral today.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he added: “I’ve got another 20 miles to go. I’m going to be heading to famous landmarks, my old stomping ground at ‘Coronation Street’, I’m going to head to Old Trafford.
“I’m hoping we’re going to get the big reception we deserve for mental health.
“It means everything to be in Manchester on the 10th day.”
Earlier this week, Ryan was left emotional as he was surprised by his daughter, Scarlett, 12, during his challenge.
He shared a clip of the emotional moment on Instagram, and he added the caption: “Best Surprise Ever!”
The former cobbles favourite was aiming to raise £25,000 for CALM, but at the time of writing his JustGiving page has amassed more than £118,000 in donations.
