OHMYGOSSIP — Former ‘Emmerdale’ star Gemma Atkinson would love to return to farm life by fronting ‘Countryfile’.
The 36-year-old star – who played Carly Hope on the Yorkshire Dales-set ITV soap from 2015 to 2017 – is keen to embark on the great outdoors in one of her next projects, as and she would love to present the rural affairs show or another wildlife programme in South Africa.
She said: “I’m doing a bit of the presenting now with ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’, which I love.
“I would love to do that but maybe about a wildlife show, or, I get to go around South Africa and, you know, look at the top five, you know, things like that.
“If I can combine my love of animals and the passion I’ve got with working on the telly and combine them somehow, hopefully, you might see me on ‘Countryfile’ one day as well.”
Gemma – who regularly calls out animal cruelty via social media – also admitted her and her fiance Gorka Márquez’s 22-month-old daughter Mia is turning into a “mini [Sir] David Attenborough”, and she is hoping to teach her girl more about animal welfare as she grows older.
Speaking on the ‘We Built This City: Greater Manchester’ podcast, she added: “I’m really passionate about animal charities because I just think, obviously they ain’t got a voice animals, so you have to be theirs.
“I think if I can teach Mia to be passionate and get her involved somehow, I mean she’s already like a little mini David Attenborough.”
