OHMYGOSSIP — Rylan Clark-Neal has pulled out of hosting tonight’s (18.05.21) ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ semi-final due to illness.
Sara Cox has been drafted in for the ‘Supermarket Sweep’ presenter, and she will now co-host BBC Four’s coverage of the semis this evening and on Thursday night (20.05.21) alongside fellow TV presenters Scott Mills and Chelcee Grimes.
Speaking on her BBC Radio 2 show on Monday night (17.05.21), she said: “I’m really excited, I’ve got a new little job this week.
“I will be co-hosting the ‘Eurovision’ semi-finals on BBC Four tomorrow night and Thursday night.
“Rylan is unwell, so obviously we wish him better.
“So I’ll be stepping into Rylan’s sparkly tux tomorrow and Thursday, 8pm, BBC Four, all the action from the ‘Eurovision’ semi-finals.
“I’ll also be rekindling the flames of fun with my old ‘Eurovision’ mucker Scott Mills, and we’ll be joined by Chelcee Grimes and many guests as well.”
And Scott clarified that Rylan hasn’t been struck down with coronavirus, he is just feeling “under the weather”.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’ today, he said: “He’s not very well. It’s not COVID, he’s just feeling under the weather.
“So, the brilliant Sara Cox is doing the first of the semi-finals.”
What’s more, the radio DJ is looking forward to teaming up with Sara again, after they previously co-hosted the event in 2011 when it took place in Dusseldorf, western Germany.
He added: “Me and her did my first ‘Eurovision’ in Dusseldorf in 2011, so we’re back together.”
James Newman will represent the UK at this year’s ‘Eurovision’.
