OHMYGOSSIP — Jamie Bamber and Priyanga Burford were given an intimacy coordinator on the set of ‘Innocent’.
The actors play Sam and his new fiancee Karen on the upcoming series of the ITV drama and he admits having an intimacy coordinator was a whole different experience for him.
He said: “I’ve done a fair few of these scenes over the years but I have never had an intimacy coordinator before. I think I was more thrown by the intimacy coordinator because she was half our age and really earnest, she was really into it and sort of gun ho.
“She’s not much older than my daughters so that actually threw me. I thought I should have a coordinator to coordinate between me and the intimacy coordinator just to be safe. That’s the way things are going these days so I’m more prepared for it now. Pri was amazing, like all good women she took charge, very clear about what she needed and wanted to feel comfortable and I was grateful for that.”
Priyanga revealed there was a “certain amount of choreography” for her and Jamie’s intimate scenes.
She added: “The thing with any love scene, or anything sexual and intimate like that, is it needs to be specific. You need to understand what that sex is about between those two people at that particular point in their relationship. There was a certain amount of choreography. We figured it out and there was an intimacy coordinator. It was just a lot of talking and figuring it out.”
Katherine Kelly stars as Sally in the ITV show and she admits her character as a “tricky relationship” with Jamie’s character Sam, her ex-husband.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Sally’s got a tricky relationship with her ex-husband, but she’s still wearing her wedding ring, because he’s the love of her life and always has been. The through line for her is she says that everything was taken away from her for no good reason and she wants it back. That really rang true to me. She is fighting for what she feels is fair and right, the injustice.”
