OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Ex On The Beach’ has been delayed again due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The likes of Jermaine Pennant, Jack Fincham and Georgia Steel were expected to fly out to Colombia over the summer to film the new series, but bosses at MTV has decided to temporarily halt plans until the world opens up a bit more and travel restrictions have been relaxed.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Bosses were really optimistic ‘Ex On The Beach’ would be able to go ahead as the world began unlocking.
“They secured a luxury villa for the new series on a breath-taking island off the coast of Colombia in a bid to lure Brits pining for a tropical holiday.
“But, like with last year’s ‘Love Island’, there was no back-up location organised. After some frantic attempts to get everyone out to South America, they accepted it just wasn’t meant to be. Execs spent last week breaking it to cast and crew that the series is off for the foreseeable future.”
It comes after it was revealed last week that show bosses were looking for a different location on the UK government’s green list – meaning those who travelled there wouldn’t need to quarantine on their return.
An insider said: “The stars who are signed up to ‘Ex On The Beach; should be filming in Colombia right now. These delays are making the show a huge headache but there is nothing anyone can do. The show bosses are now trying to work out where they can film the series. There are a handful of countries on the green list that could be perfect for filming Ex On The Beach so arrangements are being made now. Having to push the show back repeatedly has been tough for everyone.
“People working on the show and the stars are having to keep their diaries open and it’s obviously a massive nightmare. Everyone is hopeful that they can get a location booked and get filming rolling.”
