OHMYGOSSIP — James ‘Arg’ Argent has already shed two and a half stone since having gastric sleeve surgery just over two weeks ago.
The ‘Only Way Is Essex’ star underwent the life-saving operation – in which over half of the stomach is removed so that it takes the shape of a sleeve or tube – after reaching 27 stone and being told by doctors he must lose weight or risk dying.
And now, Arg has revealed the operation is already a success, as he’s managed to drop almost three stone since going on the pre-surgery diet just before his operation.
He said: “Since I started the pre-op diet just before the surgery, as of today I’ve lost already two and a half stone, which is a great start.
“I’m absolutely over the moon with that. I’m starting to recognise myself in the mirror again, the confidence is starting to come back, my looks are coming back! I’m just really really pleased. I don’t feel depressed, I just feel positive.”
The 33-year-old reality star is currently on a diet of nothing but liquids as his body heals following the surgery, but he’s looking forward to eating soft foods in the coming weeks before he can move on to solids.
And with his regained confidence, Arg is hoping he can restart his television career as well as having plans in the pipeline to get on stage and sing again.
He said during an appearance on ‘Loose Women’: “The fact that I was 27 stone, I think it’s clear that if I’m that heavy then I can’t really be happy or in a good place, which would make me a vulnerable person and a risk [to employ].
“In terms of work and stuff, I’ve got to get myself physically really healthy and happy, and feel happy in my mental health. I feel that as time goes on then absolutely, I mean, why not get back into TV. I can’t wait to get back into my singing gigs to perform with the Arg band.”
