OHMYGOSSIP — Tracie Bennett felt she was appearing on a first night in theatre while making her ‘Coronation Street’ comeback last night (21.04.21).
The 59-year-old actress found it “scary” reprising her role as Sharon Bentley in the ITV soap, but she was inundated with numerous positive comments about her performance.
She wrote on Twitter: “Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. Have to sleep for work tomorrow. But I really appreciate your comments and support! Always a scary time joining something.
Na night! (sic)”
In response to a fan who said she “nailed it”, she replied: “Ah thanks luv. Felt like a first night! In theatre! Ha! (sic)”
Sharon returned to the cobbles in an attempt to make amends with her foster mother Rita Sullivan (Barbara Knox), after the pair infamously fell out in 1999 over Sharon’s attempt to sell the Kabin after it was gifted to her.
Last night, Sharon claimed she had battled cancer and revealed she has nominated Rita for an award, and offered her a £10,000 cheque.
She told her: “I have spent the last few months, since I’ve been cancer free, wracking my brains to think how I could try again to patch things up with you.
“You were right to disown me, I ignored your advice Rita, and that cost me dearly.”
While it’s not yet known what Sharon is up to, one thing that does look certain is she won’t be hooking up with any cobbles residents anytime soon.
After a fan suggested Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan) could be ideal man for Tracie’s character, she replied: “Sharon is a loner luv! X (sic)”
