OHMYGOSSIP — Will Young has thanked Spencer Matthews for responding “in a very understanding way” after his complaints about ‘This Is My House’.
The 42-year-old singer was left offended after the ‘Made in Chelsea’ star asked who “the least gay” person was on the BBC reality show, and it seems Spencer, 32, has responded privately.
Taking to his Instagram Story, Will wrote: “@SPENCERMATTHEWS HAS HAD THE MATURITY AND RESPECT TO RESPOND IN A VERY UNDERSTANDING WAY AND I COMPLETELY APPRECIATE IT. THANK YOU SIR (sic)”
Will had previously hit out at Spencer’s comments.
He wrote: “ASKING ‘WHO IS THE LEAST GAY’ ON @BBCIPLAYER @BBC #THISISMYHOUSEBBC1 I FIND COMPLETELY OFFENSIVE .
“WHAT DOES ‘LEAST GAY’ MEAN? MOST ‘MASCULINE’ , LEAST ‘EFFEMINATE’ ‘FOR F**** SAKE @BBC DON’T YOU REALISE IT IS COMPLETELY REAFFIRMING OFFENSIVE AND SHAMING STEREOTYPES (sic)”
Will admitted he is gay and “likes football and cars”, and he tagged Spencer in the post.
The ‘Leave Right Now’ hitmaker previously revealed he was “aghast” when radio host Chris Moyles “embarked on a rampage of homophobia” against the singer on his birthday back in 2009.
He shared: “It still makes me feel sad in a way, because it did affect how important I felt my sexuality was, and because I didn’t stand up for myself.”
Will admitted to being particularly shocked by the incident because he and Chris were on “friendly terms” at the time.
He said: “BBC Radio 1 breakfast show DJ Chris Moyles decided to embark on a rampage of homophobia against me – on my birthday no less.
“It was something that left me aghast, especially as he and I were on friendly terms.”
The controversy happened when Chris amended the lyrics to his hit song ‘Evergreen’.
He said: “It’s my birthday, gonna wear my new dress tonight. And I smell nice. I’ve had a shower and I’ve shaved my legs. Going out later, might go to Nob-oooh for dinner.”
