OHMYGOSSIP — Tristan Phipps thinks men fear being seen as “weak”.
The ‘Made in Chelsea’ star believes that the old-fashioned approach towards mental health issues is “damaging” for many men around the country.
He reflected: “Men often suppress their feelings, sometimes not wanting to be seen as weak or vulnerable, but this is so damaging. We can be scared of being seen to be scared and this is when feelings get bottled up and become all-consuming.
“The struggles that myself and some of my male friends have had and are still having now have been well-documented on screen and in the tragic case of Mike Thalassitis, we’ve seen the very worst happen when it all gets too much.”
Tristan is keen to discuss mental health issues as part of the online series ‘Brews with the Boys’.
The TV star is eager to share his personal experiences with other people, revealing he hopes to help normalise discussing mental health problems among other men.
Asked why he decided to work with National Tea Day and host ‘Brews with the Boys’, Tristan replied: “After overcoming my own battles with mental health, and having many friends who are still working through theirs, I jumped at the chance to work with National Tea Day on this special project.
“With having a following comes responsibility and I want to share my experiences with others and demonstrate that it’s OK to feel vulnerable. Chatting over a cup of tea is the most normal thing in the world and with that, we hope to normalise being open and honest about our feelings with men, who traditionally struggle to talk.”
The ‘Brews with the Boys’ special edition can be viewed at 6pm on April 21 on Instagram @parteapeople.
