OHMYGOSSIP — Lady Leshurr didn’t anticipate the “toll” on her body ‘Dancing on Ice’ would have.
The 32-year-old rapper is currently competing on the ITV ice skating series and has had a few knocks and a pain in her leg along the way.
And Leshurr – who is partnered with pro Brendyn Hadfield – never thought about the fact she could suffer painful injuries and admitted it was “never-wracking” going into training.
Speaking on the ‘Thanks A Million with Angela Scanlon’ podcast, she explained: “It’s nerve-wracking because, entering the show, I never thought of all the other things that could happen.
“I just thought: ‘Yay, I’m going to learn how to skate.’ I never thought: ‘Yay, I might do the moonwalk and break my foot.’ I never thought about all the injuries that come with it…
“I’m really petite. I’m five nothing. I can get picked up and flung everywhere. I realised that my body is not as healthy or fit as it used to be.
“I was waking up in the mornings and my body was just locking. My back was just stiff. I thought: ‘Wow, these tricks and lifts are really taking a toll on my body.’
“You have to really take precaution and make sure that you’re safe…”
Despite the risk of suffering an injury, the music star insisted she enjoys being “flung about” on the ice.
She added: “I really love getting flung about. I love being gutsy and daring.”
A number of stars this series have been forced to end their time on the show early due to injury.
The latest was Jason Donovan, who was forced to exit the contest after suffering from a continuing back injury.
ITV said in a statement: “Jason Donovan has brought us so much joy with his performances on Dancing On Ice – from Priscilla through to the tango. Our thanks go to Jason and Alex for being so wonderful and committed to the series. We’re sorry to see them leave and we wish Jason a speedy recovery.”
Previously, Denise Van Outen and Billie Faiers quit due to injury whilst Rufus Hound and Joe-Warren Plant left after testing positive for coronavirus.
