OHMYGOSSIP — Kieron Richardson says Ste Hay has been “living with the consequences of his actions” off-screen.
The actor is set to return to ‘Hollyoaks’ in an upcoming episode after Ste disappeared following a terrorist attack explosion, which was orchestrated by one of Ste’s extremist “friends”.
He said: “Ste had to take himself out of the situation and evaluate his life. He moved to Newcastle and got a job, although when his employer found out about his past, he was sacked. Even off-screen, Ste’s very much been living with the consequences of his actions.”
And whilst his return shocks the Lomaxes, Ste is sure they are “happy” to have him back.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, he added: “Ultimately, I think they’re happy to see him. They were willing to accept him before but Ste kind of ran away. The trouble is, that’s it’s not just Tony [Hutchinson] now that Ste has to win around. He has to convince everyone who owns the Hutch that he’s worthy of a job there, and it doesn’t go very well. Ste’s hoping that the whole village will forgive him eventually, because while what he did was horrendous, he was groomed – let’s just hope he learned from it all.”
Meanwhile, Kieron previously admitted he feels “sad” that his ‘Hollyoaks’ far-right extremism storyline is over.
Speaking in November 2019 when the storyline came to a head, he said: “It’s kind of sad that it’s all over really. It’s a story that initially I was a bit nervous and wary of taking on, and now that it’s over, and literally the final bits are going to be on television, its quite sad. Going in to it, I had a lot of trepidation, but coming out the other side, it’s now one of my most favourite storylines I’ve ever done. I am quite sad that it’s over but the most important thing is the message that it’s brought and hopefully it’s highlighted an issue that needed to be talked about.”
