OHMYGOSSIP — ‘Holby City’ will return next month.
The BBC have confirmed the medical drama will be back on Tuesday November 10th at 8.15pm after almost three months away from the small screen, with Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie) set to wake from his brain surgery and the hospital will be “gripped” by the coronavirus pandemic.
An episode synopsis posted on the BBC website reads: “After brain surgery, Ric wakes to find that the world around him has completely changed and that Holby is gripped by a coronavirus pandemic.
“Sacha’s colleagues are concerned by his nonchalant behaviour following Essie’s death, and Cameron struggles to be the hero, but will he come up smelling of roses?”
The hotly-anticipated new episodes of the medical drama will run at a slightly shorter duration of 40 minutes.
In early August, it was revealed ‘Holby’ was due to take an extended on-screen break after running out of episodes as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The last episode aired on August 11th, just days after the cast resumed filming in late July after production was halted due to the health crisis.
Kate Oates, the head of continuing drama at BBC Studios, said: “It’s with great pleasure that we open the doors at Elstree to welcome back the exceptional cast and crew of ‘Holby City’.
“We have some gripping stories to tell as we explore how the lives of our characters have been irrevocably changed since the start of the pandemic – and how our heroes battle against the odds, come what may.”
