OHMYGOSSIP — Nick Knowles once tried to buy the ‘I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here’ castle for £5.
The ‘DIY SOS’ star – who appeared on the ITV reality show in 2018 – is said to have been interested in purchasing the derelict Gwrych Castle in Abergele, North Wales, for a fiver in the hope he was able to bring it back to its former glory.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Nick wanted to use the ethos of the BBC One show to help bring jobs to the area and put some money into the local economy. But the scale of the repairs needed, and the complications of Gwrych Castle being a Grade 1 listed building, simply made it impossible. The price he offered to pay may seem ridiculously small, but it was a token offer reflecting the cash he was considering putting into rescuing a landmark in that corner of Wales. In the end, the figures just didn’t add up.”
It comes after the ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ stars have been warned against being “disrespectful to the spirit world” during their stay at Gwrych Castle.
This year’s series of the ITV celebrity reality show will see contestants stay in the spooky castle in North Wales instead of jetting off to the Australian jungle, because of the travel restrictions imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
And according to paranormal investigator Paul Rowland – who once stayed the night at the 200-year-old castle – the cast and crew could be in for a fright if they do anything to “anger” the spirit world, including using “bad language”.
He said: “One of my concerns is that if the producers are disrespectful to the spirits in their Bushtucker trials, with ghost themes, then they are at greater risk of coming to harm. I hope the production team isn’t disrespectful to the spirit world. I’ve seen it on TV where they asked for things to be thrown and encouraged the spirits to act violently. The spirits also get angry if they use bad language.”
