OHMYGOSSIP — Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd’s graves have been vandalised.
The ‘Blind Date’ star and the comedian and entertainer’s final place of rest at a Liverpool cemetery has been graffitied on with “offensive” marks earlier this week.
A council spokesman said: “We were appalled to discover this morning that the graves of Cilla Black and Sir Ken Dodd had been vandalised overnight. Staff are carrying out repairs. We would urge anyone who has any information about the person or people responsible to contact the police.”
Ken’s gravestone had to be removed from Allerton Cemetery by the council to be repaired whilst Cilla’s could be repaired onsite.
Ken passed away in March 2018 aged 90 whilst Cilla died from a stroke aged 72 in August 2015.
Cilla was buried just metres from her parents’ graves, with her marble headstone describing her as a “devoted mother and grandmother” and “beloved wife of Bobby”.
As well as lyrics from some of her most famous songs including ‘Step Inside Love’, ‘Alfie’ and ‘You’re My World’, an engraving on the grave reads: “She celebrated life to the living of it and loved to entertain.”
Unfortunately, it is not the first time Cilla’s grave has been vandalised.
Four months after she passed in 2015, thieves stole a bronze memorial plate from the grave.
