OHMYGOSSIP — Mark Lutton was eliminated from ‘The Great British Bake Off’ on Tuesday night’s (27.10.20) episode.
The 27-year-old project manager failed to impress the judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with his Avocado-themed Showstopper, ‘Avo Baby’, during the first-ever Japanese week.
Prue went as far as to hail Mark’s cake “a disaster”, while Paul said it was “inedible”.
The latter said: “It’s cruel to say that it’s inedible, bit it’s getting there.”
Reflecting on his emotional exit, the Irish baker admitted he had an inkling that it was his turn to leave the Channel 4 baking competition, but admitted he was proud to have made it to week six.
He said: “When you know, you know. I thought it was my time tonight.
“It’s happy tears because I made it to week six of ‘Bake Off’. It’s been brilliant from start to finish.”
Mark made it to fifth place in the technical challenge, which saw the bakers make matcha crepe cake, and also had to make steam buns.
But Prue noted that it takes just “one bad bake” for a contestant to be out.
She said: “Poor Mark, he had a disaster of a showstopper.”
Elsewhere, 31-year-old pantomime producer Lottie Bedlow was named Star Baker, with her toad stall Showstopper wowing the judges.
Next week, the remaining contestants will battle it out for a place in the quarter finals with 80s week.
‘The Great British Bake Off’ airs Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
