OHMYGOSSIP — Pat Sharp thinks he’d look like Joe Exotic if he still had a mullet in 2020.
The 59-year-old presenter rose to prominence as the host of ‘Fun House’, the children’s game show on ITV, in the 80s and 90s, but Pat admits his distinctive mullet would look out of place on modern TV, saying he’d look like the ‘Tiger King’ star.
He said: “It’s a cool thing to look back on but I couldn’t have it now. I’d look like Joe Exotic.”
‘Fun House’ ended in 1999 and Pat subsequently turned his attention to the student circuit, tapping into the nostalgia of people in their late teens and twenties.
Pat has relished the direction his life has taken since the show ended, even though he’s largely faded from the TV spotlight.
He said: “I would never complain about any of the gigs I’ve done because I’m nothing but adored at every gig I do. Everybody wants a selfie, people come up and say: ‘You made my childhood.'”
Pat has lost a lot of his income due to the coronavirus pandemic, having been forced to cancel a string of money-spinning DJ sets and festival gigs.
But the veteran presenter is more concerned about the plight of young people during the ongoing crisis.
Speaking about the impact of the pandemic, he explained: “They’ve just turned 18 and all the nightclubs are closed … it’s terrible. I can understand their frustration.”
Pat also insisted he’s actually “pretty boring”, despite being one of the faces of children’s TV during the 90s,
He told the Guardian newspaper: “I’ve never drunk, I’ve never smoked. I’ve never done drugs because I’m happy enough without them. I quite like washing my car, really.”
