OHMYGOSSIP — Jane Danson says some ‘Coronation Street’ viewers have “hated” her and her character Leanne Battersby amid her latest hard-hitting storyline.
The 41-year-old actress’ current plot has seen Leanne’s son Oliver diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, but she is in denial about the hospital’s diagnosis and is planning to take them to court.
But Jane admitted she and her character often have differing opinions, and her alter-ego “drives [her] crazy” at times.
Ahead of Wednesday night’s (07.10.20) episode, she tweeted; “Interesting. Tonight Leanne and I have split opinions… some hate her (and me [laughing emoji]) some don’t. Interesting how the story manages to do this. Sometimes she drives me crazy too! (sic)”
Jane also thanked viewers for their heartfelt messages about the emotional plot.
She wrote: “And also … thanks for all the messages. I know the story hits home with for so many people . Thank you for sharing your own experiences. I find it interesting how we all see things differently and thats what helps us tell the stories (sic)”
Jane recently praised her three-year-old ‘Coronation Street’ co-stars Jeremiah and Emmanuel Cheetham, who both play Oliver, for dealing with their “harrowing” plot.
She said: “I’ve been amazed by the little boys who play Oliver, the twins Jeremiah and Emmanuel [Cheetham] are only three and they’ve been unbelievable.
“They’ve done everything they’ve been asked, they’ve had medical equipment stuck to them, they’ve had to lay down in a hospital bed and be still and that’s really tough for a three year old.
“We’ve also got a body double George who’s older but quite small and he’s been an absolute star as well.
“Because they’ve been so brilliant and the scripts have been so heart-breaking, it’s not been hard to find the emotion.”
