Declan Donnelly and Prince Harry’s ‘spare wheel’ tag

OHMYGOSSIP — Declan Donnelly insists he is similar to Prince Harry in that he feels like a “spare wheel” in his co-presenter Ant McPartlin’s relationship, in the same way the flame-haired royal might feel about his brother Prince William’s marriage to Duchess Catherine.

Declan Donnelly has compared himself to Prince Harry, saying they are both “spare wheels” in relationships. The TV presenter is always going round to see his co-host Ant McPartlin – who is married to 1990s singer Lisa Armstrong – because they live just three doors down from each other, and he believes their friendship is similar to Harry’s with the royal couple, his brother Prince William and wife Duchess Catherine.

Speaking about Harry, William and Catherine – who was known as Kate Middleton prior to her nuptials – Dec said: “Do you think it’s a little bit like my relationship with you and Lisa?”

Ant replied: “Yes. It’s funny you should bring that up. William and Kate are the married couple and they’ve got the brother who is there all the time.”

Speaking in a joint interview with Hunger magazine, Dec added: “Do you think Harry’s always round theirs hanging out, drinking their wine, sitting in their kitchen and watching TV like me?”

In 2007, Ant and Dec interviewed William, Harry and their father Prince Charles to mark the 30th anniversary of The Prince’s Trust, and during the discussion the brothers admitted they watch similar comedy shows and like the “same sort of things”.
