Miss Universe 2011 @ Casa do Zezinho

Miss Universe 2011 contestants visit Casa do Zezinho on August 31, 2011. Girls will spend the next 2 weeks appearing at events and preparing to compete in the 2011 MISS UNIVERSE® Competition on September 12 at 9 p.m. ET broadcast LIVE on NBC from Credicard Hall in Sao Paulo.

Casa do Zezinho – a safe haven for poor children and teenagers in Sao Paulo’s slum areas of Capão Redondo, Parque Santo Antônio and Jardim Ângela – functions as a day-care and after-school center to keep the young things off the streets where they are more likely to get into the bad elements of society. This is where they get nurturing in most aspects of life without separating them fron their parents. Further education is given, be it in music, culture and sports.

Casa do Zezinho, which already has offered paths to a brighter future for more than 10,000 children, adolescents and young adults, was created in 1994 by Dagmar Garroux, who’s known throughout the area as Tia Dag (Aunt Dag).
