Helena-Reet Ennet: It’s important to cultivate a personal life that makes you just as happy as your professional life

Helena-Reet Ennet (32) thinks it’s important to have hobbies. The A-list entertainment journalist and Ohmygossip Couture brand developer insists her career will never rule her life.
“I like to take classes, I like to travel, designing is my passion, I read a lot – I have a lot of interests, the entire life isn’t just about making entertainment news. That’s a dangerous place to be,” she said.
“As an editor-in-chief, it would be lovely to think that we’re all Arianna Huffington or Anna Wintour who just work endlessly but that’s not true.
“It’s important to cultivate a personal life that makes you just as happy as your professional life – I work really hard on that. I love to spend time with my children. It’s important to enrich yourself in lot of different ways.”
Helena-Reet — who has two children, 5-year-old daughter Estella Elisheva and three-year-old Ivanka Shoshana, with her partner Margus Pärn – recently revealed she thinks having children stopped her from being self-obsessed.
“My children are the best part of my day,” she said. “I used to be very competitive & aggressive but when I had my first child at 27, it put my whole life in perspective and helped me get out of my very narrow-minded focus on my career. Having kids stops the endless cycle of self-obsession!”
