OHMYGOSSIP — Holly Willoughby won’t return to ‘This Morning’ for the foreseeable future.
The 42-year-old TV presenter is set to take an extended break from the ITV show after a man appeared in court in Essex this week over a plot to kidnap and murder her.
Gavin Plumb, from Harlow, Essex, has been charged with soliciting a man named David Nelson to commit murder, and incitement to commit kidnap between October 2nd and 5th.
He is accused of planning to assemble a “kidnap and restraint kit” and inviting the other man to travel to the UK to carry out the alleged offences.
After the shocking plot was uncovered, Holly pulled out of hosting the show on Thursday (05.10.23) and she has been given police protection at her house.
A source told The Mirror: “Holly has been left distraught by the news. This has been an absolutely horrible week for her.
“At the moment she really is getting through things hour by hour. Her absolute priority is her own safety and that of her family – who are supporting her through this incredibly difficult time.
“There has been no discussion about when, or if, she will return to the ‘This Morning’ sofa. No decisions have been made about that. But given the terrifying things she has learned this week, the question of returning to work could not be further from her mind.”
After speaking about the kidnap plot during the show on Friday (06.10.12) with Dermot O’Leary, Alison Hammond said: “We’re obviously all shocked to hear the news and want to send our love and biggest hugs to Holly.”
ITV said in a statement: “This news has come as a huge shock to everyone at ‘This Morning’ and ITV. We are providing all of the support we can to Holly and her family at this incredibly distressing time.”
