OHMYGOSSIP — Tommy Fury has dedicated his recent boxing win to his girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague and their newborn daughter Bambi.
The former ‘Love Island’ star beat YouTuber Jake Paul by split decision in their bout, billed as The Truth, at the Diriyah Arena, Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday (26.02.23), and Tommy says it was all for his significant other and their little one.
Speaking about Molly-Mae not being able to watch the boxing match live, Tommy told ‘Good Morning Britain’: “It was a crazy feeling, I knew in the build-up that she would never be able to watch just because of how scared she gets for the fights.
“When I did see the video of her finding out that I had won, it was amazing because it was for those two.
“At the end of the day I’ve been in training camp, Molly’s been an absolutely amazing mother, she’s the best woman any man could ever ask for. She’s done everything, all of the hard miles at the start. I owe everything to her and Bambi, so this victory, this win was for them two.”
Tommy admits that while he was delighted with the “career-high pay day”, everything he does nowadays is to ensure his daughter has a “good life”.
He said: “I did very well, it was a career-high payday for me, well not for me should I say because everything I do now in my career is for not for me, it’s for my little girl Bambi.
“Everything I do now is to make sure that she’s happy, a good life for herself but whatever I can do to make sure she has that is enough for me.”
Tommy may soon be receiving some more cash following the bout, as before the fight he and Jake shook hands in a “winner takes all” agreement on live TV, but he is yet to receive the 26-year-old star’s money.
The 23-year-old fighter said: “At the end of the day we were live on television and we shook hands. We’re old-fashioned guys so a handshake means everything to us, but let’s see if he honours it or not.”
Jake recently claimed he made $30 million from the fight, despite losing.
He wrote on Instagram: “When you lost but made $30m.”
Also on ‘GMB’, Tommy admitted he is up for a rematch.
He said: “The rematch is something that I’m definitely wanting because I believe in the rematch I will stop him.
“You know [in] the first fight I’ve never been eight rounds before so you’re just a bit weary of what’s in your tank and how the fight is going to go.
“But I’ve now been in the ring with him once, I know what to expect.”
