OHMYGOSSIP — Hamza Yassin narrowly missed out on a perfect score as he topped the leaderboard in the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ semi-final.
He and his professional partner Jowita Przystał scored 39 after their first dance in Sunday night’s show (11.12.22) – one point away from a full 40 thanks to Craig Revel Horwood being the only judge to give them a nine out of 10.
But wildlife presenter Hamza still topped the leaderboard as he came away with a total joint score of 76 for his two dances of the show, followed by Molly Rainford and Fleur East, while Helen Skelton and Will Mellor are the bottom pair.
Singer Fleur East and Vito Coppola were the first couple to take to the stage on this week’s show, with the pair dancing the Pasodoble.
After Hamza and Jowitz danced the Charleston for their first performance, judge Craig Revel-Horwood said: “That was full of detail. Those lifts were absolutely crazy spectacular. You were very brave, darling, wearing a kilt in a Charleston.”
Craig’s fellow judge Motsi Mabuse added: “You were so alive, present and you really had everything in control. You guys have lifted the levels of lifts in Strictly. Everything was on point. Guys, exceptional.”
Anton du Beke told the pair: “You brought everything. That was amazing. Well done.”
Craig awarded the pair nine while Motsi gave them 10, head judge Shirley Ballas awarded 10 while Anton scored another 10, prompting a flood of fans to slam Craig online for being to blame they didn’t get a perfect score of 40.
Hamza got 36 out of 40 for his second dance, giving him a total of 76.
Fleur and Vito received 35/40 for their first dance and 39/40 for the second, giving them a total of 74.
Will and his pro partner Nancy Xu got 32 for their first dance and 38 for the second – a total of 70.
Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu received 36/40 and 39/40, totalling 75, while Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez got 36/40 and 36/40, a total of 72.
‘Strictly’ returned to BBC One on Sunday for the five remaining celebrities to take to the dance floor after the show was moved from its usual Saturday slot due to World Cup scheduling.
The results episode will be held on Monday night (12.12.22) at 8.15pm.
