OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Collins says it’s always in the “back of her mind” that her self-harming may “come back” one day.
The former ‘The Only Way is Essex’ star is worried that such urges could return if she was ever to have a baby with her fiance Rami Hawash, 48.
Speaking in her Channel 4 documentary, ‘Gemma Collins: Self Harm and Me’, the 41-year-old television personality said: “In the back of my mind, because obviously we do want to go on to have a baby and stuff and I feel very happy with you and very settled with you, and I think always in the back of my mind you think, ‘Oh s*** is it gonna come back?’ I don’t ever want it to come back.”
The programme – which was broadcast on Wednesday (16.02.22) – saw Rami talk about how shocked he was to walk in on Gemma cutting herself a decade ago.
Gemma also expressed worries that she would impacted by postnatal mental health issues.
She explained: “Because I now want to go on and have a family and stuff, I was always scared.”
Choking back tears, she continued: “It’s not like a normal conversation you can have with someone as they’re thinking, ‘Is she fit to have a baby?’ It’s one of those things, do you know what I mean?
“I suppose there’s just a part of me … you hear about people have postnatal depression, I don’t ever want it to come back. It’s scary. It’s very, very scary.”
While in a therapy session, the former ‘Dancing on Ice’ contestant discussed how well Rami “knows” her.
Gemma said: “He knows me very well, he knows Gemma. He’s normal.”
In response, the therapist asked: “He’s interested in you?,” prompting Gemma to reply: “Massively, which is surprising but nice at the same time. It’s lovely. He genuinely likes and loves me.”
