OHMYGOSSIP — Gemma Atkinson has asked her social media followers for advice as her dog is suffering from painful back legs.
The ‘Hollyoaks’ star took to Instagram to appeal to her fans if they had any wise words about how she and partner Gorka Márquez – who have two-year-old daughter Mia – could help their pet pooch Ollie.
She wrote: “Both Norman & Ollie now have shorter walks, need help up the stairs, help in the car and they take that little bit longer getting up to come and great me when I walk in. Little things we’ve all noticed in the family met with just a look across the room at each other knowing that they are getting older… Ollies back legs especially at the moment are quite bad. He has his joint tablets & another medication as well but if anyone knows of anything else that may help please let me know below so we can try it. I know inevitably what happens down the line, but if I can help now, to try and delay it, I’ll be happy (sic)”
In April, Gemma joined a campaign to help homeless pets.
She urged Brits to show their support as part of the campaign by Hill’s Pet Nutrition, which planned to provide 14,000 meals for rescue centres.
Gemma – who played the part of Carly Hope in ‘Emmerdale’ – said: “Shelters have been working tirelessly to help the lives of the many animals in their care. They are in desperate need of support right now.
“My dogs are a huge part of our family, I’m a massive advocate for animal welfare. Animal lovers can show their support for shelters.
“I mean there have been times when I’ve been going through difficult times and I’ve just come home and sat on the couch and had a little cry and it’s like they know what you need to cheer you up.
“To be honest I laugh at something they do every day because I’m convinced they’re little humans in dogs’ bodies. I mean they constantly eat my socks and it drives me mad but I can’t help but laughing when I catch them.
“I regularly catch Norman with his head in my wash basket and find Ollie sitting watching the tumble dryer go round waiting for me to open it so he can see what’s inside.”
