OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Enfield, Paul Whitehouse, Konnie Huq and David Dimbleby will front special shows next year to celebrate 100 years of the BBC.
Mockumentary ‘The Love Box In Your Living Room’ will see Harry and Paul team up to take a look at the corporation’s output from the last 100 years, mixing contemporary footage with “genuinely authentic made-up stuff”.
Former ‘Blue Peter’ host Konnie will host ‘Here’s One I Made Earlier’, which will celebrate the best of British children’s programming from the last 100 years, which includes looking back at ‘Magic Roundabout’ and Saturday morning shows such as ‘Going Live’.
Ex-‘Question Time’ host David is to present three-part series ‘BBC: A Very British History’, which will look back at the impact the BBC has had on British life across recent years.
Charlotte Moore, BBC Chief Content Officer, said: “Our centenary year will be a huge treat for audiences of all ages from massive sporting events, comedy, entertainment, drama, arts and music, to documentaries assessing all aspects of the BBC’s history.
“BBC 100 will celebrate and reflect on the unique role the BBC plays in the lives of audiences across the UK as our much-cherished national broadcaster from its creation right up to the present day.”
Other planned BBC content for 2022 includes the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the Women’s European Championships, the World Cup, and the Commonwealth Games.
And ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, ‘Doctor Who’, ‘Top Gear’, ‘MasterChef’, ‘The Apprentice’ and ‘Antiques Roadshow’ will also be part of the corporation’s programming next year.
What’s more, BBC Three will return as a broadcast channel in 2022, with four new series.
