Ulrika Jonsson ‘signs up for Celebs Go Dating’
OHMYGOSSIP — Ulrika Jonsson looks set to sign up for the new series of ‘Celebs Go Dating’.
The 54-year-old TV presenter is said to be keen to join the E4 show, in which dating experts match celebrities up to potential suitors, and bosses hope she will be one of the “big names” in the new series.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Ulrika jumped at the chance.
“The idea of being properly matched up to someone by experts is ideal for her after a few failed romances.
“Ulrika is a big name and has an interesting back story.
“She is one of the older celebs to have taken part in the series and it adds a totally different element to the show.
“Plus she’s a great sport and knows what makes great TV.”
In 2019, the former ‘Gladiators’ host revealed she had split from her third husband Brian Monet, who she married in 2008.
Ulrika said at the time: “You can only resolve problems with another person. If I’m honest, getting another divorce aged 51 is not where I thought I would be, so who knows?
“I just don’t know what shape my future will take. I can’t contemplate dating again. Then again, I’ve said I will never marry again before, and I did. I’ve been content being out of the limelight. I haven’t craved it but, that said, I do need to live.”
She was also previously married to Lance Gerrard-Wright from 2003 to 2006, and before that John Turnbull from 1990 to 1995.
‘Celebs Go Dating’ is returning for a 10th series on E4 next year, with a return to the London-based agency after the show headed off for its very first UK dating retreat last year and provided some lockdown relief with ‘Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion’.
Sarah Tyekiff, Head of Unscripted Programming at Lime Pictures, said this week: “It’s been a long time coming for our celebs to get back out in the real-world and date potential suitors.
“We can’t wait to see how their dating skills cope now they are outside the confines of their own homes and back out on the town.
“This brand-new series is going to be the biggest test yet as we set out to ramp up the dates creating more challenges and compatibility tests, putting our celebrities through their paces as they get closer to finding love.”
Vivienne Molokwu, Commissioning Editor at Channel 4, added: “If you’re single, 2021 has made looking for love very complicated and it hasn’t been any easier if you’re a celeb.
“For 2022, we’re reopening everyone’s favourite celebrity dating agency to help celebs get back into the dating game and maybe even find the one.
“‘Celebs Go Dating’ has been entertaining fans for years and we can’t wait to show the audience what we’ve got in store for our famous faces this time around.
“From frisky first dates to glamourous getaways – this series promises to be full of surprises – for the celebs and the viewers.”
