OHMYGOSSIP — Netflix is set to launch a new survival show.
The streaming giant has finished filming a new project to rival ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ which will see young millennials take on the challenges of the British countryside.
An insider told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: “This will make for delicious viewing for all those people who know how difficult life can be beyond the confines of a social media bubble.
“They will be far from home, without any of the luxuries they usually enjoy. They certainly won’t be tethered to their mobiles and laptops like they usually would.
“But the overall aim of the show isn’t to punish anyone or be cruel, it’s just intended to be an eye-opening experience which has a distinct feel-good factor.”
The untitled programme is set to have a similar vibe to ‘Snowflake Mountain’, which was set to be fronted by ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ star Ant Middleton before it was halted by Channel 4.
The 40-year-old former soldier was said to be working on the programme as he looked to help teenagers overcome hardships from their past.
An insider revealed at the time: “The show is unlikely to feature an actual mountain, but it will see Ant testing younger recruits both mentally and physically.
“It will be more to do with trying to get them into the right mindset than chucking them off a cliff face on an abseil and seeing who survives.
“The show is still in its very early stages but everyone seems keen and all being well it will be on screens in the autumn. It will feature youngsters who have gone through a difficult period like jail time or a family tragedy.”
However, Ant was dropped from Channel 4 and ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ due to his “personal conduct”.
A Channel 4 spokesperson previously said in a statement: “Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’.
“Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again.”
