OHMYGOSSIP — Daniel Brocklebank would’ve gone “utterly insane” without his dogs over lockdown.
The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who plays Billy Mayhew in the ITV soap – is grateful he had his two pet pooches Jean and Colin to keep him company, but joked they have also “driven [him] insane” at times.
Speaking on ‘Lorraine’, he said: “I was alone.
“The last time we talked I was in my living room and I hadn’t spoken to a single person in three months, going out of my mind.
“I would’ve gone utterly insane without the two of them.
“They’ve also driven me insane at points.”
The 41-year-old star wanted to give his two pooches “people names” because he finds it amusing, and he admitted when he is chatting about his dogs people think he is speaking about his grandparents instead.
He added: “I just think people name for dogs are funny.
“People always thinking I’m talking about my grandparents or something.”
Last year, Daniel admitted he had been inundated with requests from fans to take selfies with his canine Colin after he took him on ‘Loose Women’.
He said: “Only ‘actor’ dogs can go on set but there’s no shortage of people wanting to give him lots of attention.
“Maureen Lipman, for instance, or Chris Gascoyne often take him for a little walk. He’s become the communal ‘Corrie’ dog. And he often gets recognised.
“He’s all over my Instagram and, ever since I took him on to ‘Loose Women’, we get stopped and people ask for selfies with him. I simply cannot imagine life now without him. He gives me untold joy. It’s true what they say – he’s this man’s best friend.”
