OHMYGOSSIP — Harry Redknapp is plotting a role in ‘Coronation Street’ now he’s filmed his ‘EastEnders’ cameo.
The 74-year-old retired football manager is to make an appearance in the Queen Vic pub as a friend of a new character Rocky – played by Brian Conley – leaving landlord and West Ham fan Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) speechless.
Harry admits his day filming the BBC One soap has given him a taste for acting and if ‘EastEnders’ want him back they better get a move on as he thinks he could be a star on ITV’s rival soap ‘Corrie’.
In an interview with the new issue of Inside Soap magazine, he said: “I’d love to [return]. I’m always available and they had better hurry up, because I’m sure that ‘Coronation Street’ will be trying to get me now, I’m starting to perfect my Manchester accent!
“But really, I had a great time and I would love to go back.”
In his scenes, Harry arrives at the Queen Vic during a Euros 2020 party and has some special news for one Walford youngster.
The former ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ winner admits his cameo with the residents of Walford was a dream come true because he and his wife Sandra have been fans of ‘EastEnders’ since it started in 1985, although the former West Ham player and manager will change the channel if there’s a big football game on at the same time.
When asked if he is an ‘EastEnders’ fan, he said: “Yes! My wife never misses an episode – I watch it, but if there’s a football match on the other side, I’ll be honest, I have to switch. But I’ve followed it over the years and I remember when it first started all them years ago, it was so exciting. We’ve always been fans in the family.”
