OHMYGOSSIP — Sir Tom Jones has signed up for ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’.
The 80-year-old singer will take part in the upcoming hit series – which returns to Channel 4 on Friday (04.06.21) – with his ‘The Voice’ co-star Anne-Marie.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “Sir Tom has been on the wish-list for ‘Gogglebox’ bosses for a long time. His schedule is incredibly busy but this time they have managed to secure him for filming. Everyone is hugely excited about Sir Tom coming on board.
“He will be on the sofa watching the box with Anne-Marie. They got on like a house on fire on the show and their chemistry on screen was fantastic. ‘Gogglebox’ bosses think they’ll be an even funnier duo when they’re watching TV together and talking off the cuff.”
Tom won’t be the only singing sensation to appear on the box as Mel C is also set to join the slew of celebrities for the new series.
Other newcomers include Clare Balding and her wife Alice Arnold; Lorraine Kelly with her daughter Rosie; radio presenter Clara Amfo and her brother Andy; as well as former Premier League stars Micah Richards and Jamie Carragher.
Looking forward to the new series, Lorraine recently said: “There is no point doing it and watching what you say. You have to go for it.”
Series regulars Denise Van Outen, Maureen Lipman, Chris Eubank, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will also feature.
Nick Grimshaw – who first appeared on the show with his niece Liv in 2019 – will return to the programme, and he has already shared some advice for the debutants.
He said: “Channel 4 pay for the snacks so you can have whatever you want. At the start we started off we wanted to be healthy but now we just have crisps.”
