OHMYGOSSIP — Demi Jones has hit back at a troll who laughed at her cancer diagnosis.
The 22-year-old former ‘Love Island’ contestant recently shared that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and had a potentially cancerous, “golf ball-sized” lump removed from her neck last month, but also needs surgery to remove the rest of her thyroid.
One troll commented: “hahaha you got cancer,” leading Demi to hit back at the “unacceptable” message.
She said: “I never respond to trolls but unfortunately this kind of thing is unacceptable. Please don’t be that person, thank you for all the other kindness.”
Demi has been keeping fans updated on her condition since going public with her illness.
She wrote on Instagram Stories: “Hi guys, I got my results today and unfortunately I have Thyroid cancer.
“The tumour has been removed but I’m now due to have more surgery to remove the rest of my Thyroid.
“I’m staying very positive and I’m a strong girl so I’ll be fine, thank you for your love and support always [heart emoji] I’ll bounce back stronger (sic)”
Last month, the star took to social media from her hospital bed to reveal she was “very sleepy” and in pain following the successful procedure, which had left her with a “really swollen” face and neck.
She wrote: “Face and neck really swollen but the surgery went really well, the lump on my Thyroid was as big as a golf ball.
“The NHS Staff at QA Portsmouth have been unbelievable. And thank you for all your messages they have made me tearful (sic)”
