OHMYGOSSIP — A ‘Masked Singer’ egg costume was rejected because it “looked like boobs”.
The ITV programme featured an amazing array of outfits in its first two series – as will its upcoming sister show ‘The Masked Dancer’, which will feature a rubber chicken, a viper and a beetroot – but one of the show’s craziest costumes had to be rethought for the family show.
Show producer Dan Nettleton said: “We have just rejected a costume idea for the next series of ‘The Masked Singer’. The two things looked like boobs. That was binned and so it’s back to the drawing board.”
Fellow producer Derek McClean told the Daily Star newspaper’s Hot TV column: “It was meant to be two hard-boiled eggs. It wasn’t appropriate. It was a good costume though.”
‘The Masked Dancer’ will debut this weekend and see judges Mo Gilligan, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Oti Mabuse try to work out who the 12 famous faces are behind the masks.
Mo explained: “With this, there are clues everywhere. There are clues on the stage, there are clues in the songs, what they say, in the song titles, and then you get the clue packages.
“So half the time I sit there and I’m just like, ‘I’m going to do my shopping list for the week, because I have no clue, it’s that hard’. But also it’s good so you can get up and really have a dance.”
Oti previously revealed she thinks Mo could surprise viewers with his dance knowledge.
She said: “Jonathan is the king of dance – he’s the ultimate dad dancer. He has this little bum wiggle. Joel [Dommett, the show’s host] is like the prince of dance with his ‘running man’ and Davina’s the queen of dance who just does the whole Beyonce. But Mo is actually trained as a dancer – did you not know that? I’ve never seen him dance but I think he can surprise us.”
